Recreational Softball!

The purpose of Recreational Softball is to teach all players, regardless of experience, the fundamentals of throwing, catching and hitting, as well as learning the rules of the game through friendly competition. Experienced players are encouraged to play new positions not previously played to enhance the player's overall skill level. Player evaluations are usually held in late January with the season starting in early February and concluding by the end of April. Recreational Softball is broken up in the following divisions:

Registration for JTAA Recreational Softball begins in November of each year and runs through early January. You may register your child by clicking here.

Like all JTAA programs, parent participation is KEY to the overall success of the program, as it is 100% comprised of volunteers. Our program can’t function without our many volunteer coaches, team parents, concession and field workers. Parents, this is a great opportunity to get involved and make a positive impact on the children living in our community.

When registering your child online, you may also volunteer to be a manager or an assistant coach. While it is helpful, no prior coaching experience is required. If selected as a manager or assistant coach by the Softball Committee, we will provide you with the training you need through our alliance with the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (“NYSCA”). Training typically involves some interactive video training, as well as one or more coaches’ clinics conducted by members of the Softball Committee or by professional softball trainers. Please note that for the safety of all children participating in our program, all managers and assistant coaches will be required to submit to, and pass, a criminal background check administered by the JTAA Executive Board.
